15 Month Old Bull #20x49
This bull’s tag number is 20x49. He is red and polled. Born May 9th of 2020, bred and raised on KY31 Fescue with no supplements in Southern Missouri. According to his DNA profile he can throw horned or polled calves.
On a scale of 1-10, 10 being extremely docile, I gave him a docility score of 7, from working him through our pens.
He was above average among his contemporary group for our one year “height to weight ratio” ranking. I call it an "8 in 5" ranking, named after renowned cattleman Johann Zietsman's illustration of "8 pounds of sugar in a 5 pound package."
If one were to go by Igenity Lab’s DNA profile probabilities for millions of DNA submissions, the birth weight of his calves is lower than average, and the likelihood for his calves to be born without assistance is above average, and the likelihood for his daughters to calve their first calf unassisted is very likely.
20x49’s sire was #1737, a red bull we raised that exhibited early maturing and high testosterone. As a two year old he bred the 2nd most females out of the whole bull battery that year.
20x49’s dam, a red cow #1524, is a registrable South Poll Cow. She's 6 years old with a decent udder. She earned our designation of a “2+3” cow, which means she had her first two calves within three years of her birth. And she bred back and calved her 2nd calf within a year of her first calf on KY31 Fescue without supplement.
#1524’s sire is a bull we purchased from Ralph Voss, Tag#391, Registration #33018. #391 is the sire of one of our bulls “B-80” that was featured in a Farm Progress article about Hormonal balance, in which they interviewed Johann Zietzman. In the article Johann included B-80 as an example of good hormonal balance.
Price includes Trich test and breeding soundness exam.
20x49 is eligible to be registered as 1/4 blood. We can register him with the South Poll Association for you for $200.
